Accurate machining requires accurate positioning of parts in a vise! Our workstops are accurate, easy to use and tool free (so no fumbling for that mis-placed Allen key!). Easily position them, move/remove them for machining and replace accurately to indicate in the next part.
The workstop has a 29mm tall magnet boss, giving enough height to reach around wide softjaws on vises such as the Kurt/Orange. This is the smaller size, but the reach is still a respectable 32mm, allowing to reach past a 2" wide softjaw. Yet the smaller size has a smaller overall length, meaning it's not too long on small centric vises.
Generally choose the larger size for Orange/Kurt style large 3 axis vises. Choose this smaller size when you need to use smaller centric vises, (but also you retain the flexibility to use this on the larger vises, it's just slightly less adjustable)
We use a brass thumbscrew to avoid marring the stainless steel rod and of course it's completely tool free and can be locked up solid with just gentle pressure on the thumbscrew. The arm is designed to avoid getting in the way of the work and we use several techniques, such as: placing the screw right at the end of the arm, a slim point on the arm, and the screw is also placed off centre to minimise affecting the work, but maximise the amount of thread in the hole.
